The World Disability Union (WDU): Founded in 2011, the World Disability Union (WDU) is a global umbrella organization uniting over 400 affiliated entities across 91 countries, all recognized as International Qualified Entities. Guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, WDU is dedicated to preventing disabilities, breaking down barriers, and driving inclusive projects that empower individuals with disabilities to fully participate in society. We collaborate closely with governments, private sectors, and relevant organizations to create sustainable, impactful change.
Our Unique Certification Program: WDU is proud to be the only institution worldwide that issues international certifications for environments fully accessible to people with disabilities. From airports and hotels to transportation systems, parks, museums, and shopping centers—our certification validates that these places meet the highest standards of accessibility and inclusivity.
Our certification aligns with Article 9 of the UN Convention, officially recognizing venues as disability-friendly and committed to universal access.
Honoring Excellence and Empowering Talent: Beyond certification, WDU celebrates the champions of change—awarding certificates to individuals who actively improve the lives of people with disabilities. We also recognize talented individuals with disabilities and honor those who dedicate their efforts and services to this vital cause through prestigious medals and awards.
