The Rashid Centre for People of Determination was established in 1994 to support children from the age of three with diverse disabilities and backgrounds, including physical, learning, and sensory impairments. The Centre provides a comprehensive curriculum integrated with a therapeutic approach, ensuring that students receive both academic instruction and essential life skills training. A key focus is vocational training for eligible students aged 18 and above, which has successfully enabled some students to secure employment.

The Centre delivers a broad, balanced curriculum that is adapted to individual abilities. For English speakers, the curriculum follows the British National Curriculum, while for Arabic speakers, it is based on the UAE National Curriculum. Both curricula are tailored to foster active learning, creativity, and critical thinking, and are complemented by extracurricular activities such as art, music, drama, physical education, swimming, and computing. Additionally, Islamic and Quran Studies are integrated throughout the program, with assistive technology incorporated to ensure all students can access the curriculum and achieve success.

For senior students, the ASDAN program offers practical workshops that align with the Centre’s specialized programs. This hands-on experience in structured environments supports their transition beyond the Centre, while internships for students aged 16 and above provide valuable real-world work experience. Functional skills—including literacy, numeracy, communication, and ICT—are also emphasized to support students’ transition into adulthood.

Therapies form an integral part of the daily schedule at the Centre, ensuring holistic support for every student. The curriculum incorporates physiotherapy (including aquatic therapy and hippotherapy), occupational therapy (focusing on sensory stimulation, sensory integration, goal-oriented learning, conductive education, and the neurodevelopmental approach), and speech and language therapy (covering articulation, language intervention, oral-motor/feeding and swallowing therapy, as well as alternative and augmentative communication intervention (AAC)). These services are delivered in collaboration with a dedicated behavior team, special educators, and families, all working together to enhance students’ independence and overall quality of life.

In addition to its educational and therapeutic programs, the Rashid Centre serves as a training facility for interns who must complete their training hours. The Centre also  provide specialized training for professionals in the field of childcare ,behavioral intervention, equipping them with the strategies needed to support individuals with disabilities.
