Description

Jewel Children with Autism Rehabilitation Center is an interdisciplinary child development facility dedicated to bridging developmental gaps in children. It operates as a branch of India’s first autism and child development center, founded in 2008 by visionary Dr. Jameson Samuel, who formerly worked with the World Health Organization. Currently, Jewel employs around 250 professionals and serves clients from 39 different countries, making it a globally recognized institution in the field of child development and autism care.

Jewel functions as an internship hub for 32 universities and a PhD research center for 5 universities across various disciplines. These include developmental pediatrics, occupational therapy, sensory integration, speech-language pathology, psychological services, behavioral therapy, child guidance, school readiness, physiotherapy, developmental education, play therapy, feeding and swallowing therapy, oral placement therapy (OPT), PROMPT therapy, research and development, and international consultancy for new centers.

With current global statistics showing that 1 in 35 children is diagnosed with autism, Jewel’s core vision centers on mainstreaming differently-abled children and ensuring their inclusion in society. Our mission is to empower each child to achieve their highest level of independence by delivering focused and appropriate therapy within a holistic and supportive environment. The center follows a family-oriented therapy model, where parents actively participate in every therapy session alongside their child. After thorough assessments, individualized case files with specific goals are provided to parents. They are also trained to implement home-based follow-up programs. A monthly progress report from parents is documented, and children undergo reassessments every three months. These are followed by detailed case discussions involving the therapist, parents, and the child to ensure coordinated and effective intervention.

Jewel collaborates with 35 schools to facilitate the mainstreaming of children during the intervention process. The team adopts a targeted approach, focusing on the specific challenges faced by each child in the school setting. Through the School Readiness Program, children are gradually prepared for formal education by replicating a school environment within the center. This helps them adapt to routines and become familiar with the school setup, easing their transition into mainstream education.

To promote early identification, Jewel conducts numerous screening camps in partnership with leading universities and hospitals across the UAE and India. The center strongly advocates for “Early Detection and Early Intervention” as the most effective strategy for managing developmental concerns. Based on 18 years of experience and having successfully mainstreamed over 150,000 children, Jewel asserts that early intervention—especially before the neuromaturation age of four—can increase a child’s likelihood of successful mainstreaming by up to 85%.
